DIY Holiday Batik Wreath

Hi Friends,

Back again with another Holiday DIY! It's time to make wreaths and I have the perfect one for you. It's easy and a great way to use up fabric scraps, jellyrolls you never got around to using, or showcase all of your new holiday fabrics. You could use my Cotton Batik in shades of red and green, conveniently organized by color on my website.

You will need:

12" Wire wreath form or wire coat hanger

Note: Wire wreath forms are inexpensive this time of year and can be found at all crafting stores and some larger one-stop shops like Target or Walmart. If you don't want to make a trip to the store, you can also repurpose an old wire hanger. It can be reformed into a circle shape and the hook at the end can be used to hang your finished wreath.

~3 yards of fabric, or a mix of fabric adding up to 3 yards

Note: I used 12 different colors, so I cut 12 quarter yards.

Scissors

Start by cutting your fabric into 1.5 inch by 9 inch strips- this can be an approximation. The rotary cutter is your best friend.

Sort your fabric strips by color before you begin tying them.

Knot the fabric strips around the wire form in an alternating pattern, if using more than one fabric. I tied the colors in pairs so that two of the same color were tied next to each other.

Make sure you start with one of the two middle rings if using a wreath form like the one shown below. I completed one of the two middle rings and then worked on the other middle ring before moving on to the two outside rings last. This makes it a lot easier to work with as it gets fuller and it also guarantees you aren't grouping the colors together too much on adjacent rings.

Continuing tying strips around the wreath form until it is full and to your liking. When it's really full, it's easier to tie the strips on backwards and then rotate them to the front of the wreath.

When you're all finished, you can hang it up or continue to embellish it with glittery ribbons, bells, or ornaments for a more festive look! It's very customizable to your tastes.

We'd love to see your finished wreaths, so send us a picture at info@indobatiks.com, or find us on social media: Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, or Twitter!

Happy Crafting!
